Pricing Experiment Update

About 10 days ago, I lowered the price of my romantic comedy, The Merry-Go-Round, to 99 cents (previously $2.99) and I have seen quite a bit of action regarding sales. The book was picked up by a couple of heavily followed FaceBook pages, Pixel of Ink and eReader News Today, and I believe the promo these two sites offered really helped my sales. I expect even more good things (read: sales) when Elizabeth from The Frugal eReader gives me a quick mention this coming Thurs.

However, I feel I would be remiss in my 'updating duties' if I did not add the shadowy side of this experiment (not to mention that my scientist husband would want me to reveal all the collected data <g>). Since lowering the price of The Merry-Go-Round, my other Kindle book, Mountain Laurel, hasn't garnered a single sale. I am hoping that any new readers I might glean from this experiment will be willing to check out (read: buy) my other books. This, of course, is called a hypothesis and only time will tell if it will come to pass.

Please watch for more updates in the coming days. I would like to thank:

If only I could take some credit, Donna. Thanks for the mention. It's a great book.

Interesting, Donna. Thanks for sharing your data. It may be that people have tucked your book away to read in the next few weeks - and that, after reading it, they will rush out and buy Mountain Laurel. It's really difficult to be sure without sophisticated tracking, though you may get an idea through Amazon when you scrutinize the 'customers who bought this also bought' information on the site.

Oh, you get some of the credit, Al! I insist.

Helen, you could be right...and I hope you are. We'll see how things shake out.

Thanks for stopping by!

I hope your sales continue for TMGR, and pick up for ML. Have you put a blurb about ML at the back of TMGR? It might help sales.

I have one at the end of NGD and my sales of MIH have actually increased since I lowered NGD to 99 cents.

Thanks! The trouble is I write two different types of books. As Donna Fasano, I write romantic romps with some sexual content. As Donna Clayton, I write romance novels where relationships revolve around and develop due to a feeling of intimacy. There's a slight difference and I don't want to offend either of the two groups of readers. However, it could be that I'm way off base, and that romance readers love all romance, no matter what the content.

I have listed my upcoming Clayton titles in the back of Mountain Laurel. And I'm working hard to get those novels ready to be sold!
